This article investigates the stabilization of a class of stochastic nonhomogeneous semi-Markov jump systems (SNSMJSs). As a result of incomplete access to the system's state and the occurrence of asynchronous phenomena that occur during information transmission, the control design of the SNSMJSs becomes significantly more complicated. To tackle such a challenge, an observer-based asynchronous controller embedded with a hidden Markov model is proposed. First, an algebraic relationship among transition probability, probability distribution function, and probability density function is derived. Using the constraints on transition probabilities and the inherent properties of semi-Markov processes, time-varying transition rates are expressed. Based on the reorganized transition rates, stabilization conditions are established. Second, the double coupling terms generated by defective information transmission are addressed through the introduction of slack matrices, and then, desired controller gains and observer gains are derived to further ensure the exponential mean-square stability of the SNSMJSs. Finally, a data communication network is presented to verify the validity of the proposed method.
